National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas

The National Butterfly Center is located at 333 Butterfly Park Drive in Mission, Texas. This is just a short drive away from Chimney Park Resort, just about a mile away. Once there, you will see the most amazing butterflies Texas has to offer. What is nice about your visit to the National Butterfly Center is that there is no need to rush. You can see everything at your own pace. Many seniors love to stay and play here in Texas for the Annual Texas Butterfly Festival which happens in November. Even if you can’t make it for the festival, the butterfly center is open 7 days a week. The National Butterfly Center is educational and shows animals and plants in an amazing setting that is of interest to everyone but especially the young at heart.

ButterfliesThe North American Butterfly Association, a nonprofit organization, supports the center from the donations they receive. They do their very best to make everyone feel at home with their visit to the center. The butterfly center is located on 100 acres and gives the butterflies and wildlife lots of space to live as nature intended it to be. You will enjoy seeing all of these animals and plants in their natural environment. The center is open from 8 a.m until 5 p.m. September thru March and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. April thru August. Because the center is educational and supported by the admission fees collected and the nonprofit group that helps to run it, the admission price is very affordable. Give them a call for the latest information (956) 583-5400.

Once you visit the center you can stop by the gift shop and purchase books, caps, T-shirts, jewelry and more. You can even purchase some of the many plants that you have seen on your travels around the center. These items will make great gifts for people on your gift list too. One thing you won’t be able to take back with you is live butterflies. Besides, you would have too many to choose from because there are over 150 species that can be spotted in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas alone. Regardless of which species of butterfly you like best, chances are good you will see them in the National Butterfly Center. It is well worth the time spent looking at the amazing butterflies in flight and the many plants that make this center so amazing and unique. Do yourself a favor and make sure you take time to visit the National Butterfly Center during your stay at the Chimney Park Resort and RV Park.
